On Father’s Day one of my sons told me over the phone that he hadn’t been feeling well and was waiting for Covid-19 test results. Because I visited him the week before, I realized that IF he had had the coronavirus then he could have exposed me, and IF I had it, I could have exposed others. You. Thanks to Deacons Paul and Dave, I was immediately able to “quarantine.” I notified the chancery and the parish staff. My personal doctor’s response was, since I had no symptoms, and since my son’s test results weren’t back, there was no reason for me to be tested. However, that would not have protected you. Although I knew that it was unlikely that I was infected, I was still nervous. Thankfully, the chancery was able to arrange for an immediate test, and I received the results the next day: No Covid. There’s a good lesson here. IF I had the virus, our procedures at the parish would have limited the chance that I would spread it to anyone else. Your safety procedures would have limited your chances of catching it. And just in case, we would have known exactly who to notify about any possible exposure. Any of us could be exposed at work or with our families. Be safe.
