“May I wear a face shield instead of a mask?”
I’m glad you want to come back to Mass, and I’m glad you asked! I really would like to make it possible! A face shield is not an acceptable substitute for a face mask. Some situations might call for both but not a face-shield by itself. If a face shield is worn, a mask covering nose and mouth is also required. Here are the sources: From Jackson County Health Department: When in a public indoor space (including a workplace, business, school, place of worship, or public facility such as a community center or library) individuals are required to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth. https://jacksongov.org/DocumentCenter/View/6939/recovery-plan_v75?bidId= From CDC: Face Shields. It is not known if face shields provide any benefit as source control to protect others from the spray of respiratory particles. CDC does not recommend use of face shields for normal everyday activities or as a substitute for cloth face coverings. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cloth-face-cover-guidance.html
