Staff Hours Being Reduced

Please keep us in your prayers. As we respond to reduced parish income, working hours for parish full-time staff are being reduced. That means staff members must face a reduction in income, which is not easy. Each one considers work as a ministry and each is a member of the parish community. No full-time positions are being eliminated and all are sharing in the sacrifice. As Mass attendance, giving and economic conditions improve, then work hours can be increased again. Many of you are facing similar challenges. We will continue to pray for you, and we ask you to pray for us as we make adjustments. Some will rightly ask, “What sacrifice are you making, Father?” Priests are not salaried, as you know, and I cannot cut back the hours I am a priest. Valerie and I must make our sacrifice on the other end – to give sacrificially and keep our expenses low.
