Eucharist and First Communion
First Holy Communion is a joyful milestone in a child’s faith journey. Through this sacrament, children receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time and grow closer to Jesus within the life of the Church.
First Communion 2027
We’ll be sharing First Communion and meeting dates soon.
The Eucharist
The Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life, the sacrament in which Jesus Christ gives Himself fully to His people — Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity — under the appearances of bread and wine. Instituted by Christ at the Last Supper, the Eucharist nourishes the soul, deepens communion with God, and unites the faithful more closely to the life of the Church.

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “In the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself” (CCC 1324).

Fulton J. Sheen once wrote, “The Eucharist is the greatest love story ever told.”

In every Mass, Christ continues to offer Himself for the life of the world, inviting us not only to receive Him, but to become more fully united to Him in love, sacrifice, and communion.

First Holy Communion
At St. Margaret’s, we are honored to accompany children and families in preparing for this beautiful encounter with Our Lord through prayerful formation, reverent liturgy, and support in the life of faith.

Preparation for First Holy Communion helps children grow in their understanding of God’s love, the Holy Mass, and the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

This preparation is shared by families, the parish, and catechists. Parents, as the first teachers of the faith, play an essential role by fostering prayer at home and participating faithfully in Sunday Mass.

Children are prepared through age-appropriate catechesis, prayer, and formation in Catholic beliefs and practices. As part of this preparation, they also celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation before receiving the Eucharist for the first time.

First Holy Communion is not the end of faith formation, but an important step in a lifelong journey of discipleship and communion with Christ. Our parish joyfully supports families as children continue to grow in faith, prayer, and participation in the life of the Church.
